The Opportunity:
MCW is currently seeking a self-motivated, hardworking Accounting Administrator to join our MCW Edmonton office. The Accounting Administrator is responsible for ensuring that accounts receivable (AR) transactions and account payable (AP) transactions are recorded and processed in an accurate, timely, efficient, and auditable manner. Duties include a proactive and customer service-focused approach to AP and AR processing, preparing ad hoc reports, following up and resolving accounts and accounting issues.
Position: Accounting Administrator
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
Responsibilities: The Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Accounts payable: Payment of all project and office expenses including processing of all related employee expenses, balancing, auditing and ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Accounts receivable: Prepare monthly billings by performing daily accounting functions including the preparation of journal entries for adjustments, insurance, inter-office and inter-company invoices, expenses and complete month end.
- Accurate set-up of company projects.
- Assist in the administrative aspects of finance and accounting processes.
- Assist with year-end audit as necessary.
- Collection processes: ensure timely collection of monies due on outstanding invoices.
- Maintains client confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
- Perform other duties and special projects as required.
- Process and administer all employee time records, ensuring all reporting requirements are satisfied and completed on time and accurately.
- Respond to questions and provide updates to clients, MCW Management and staff inquiries, maintain good relations and solve problems.
- Review invoice details against the terms of the underlying agreement.
- Work with MCW Management team to obtain details of customers and invoices required to prepare to enter AR invoices.
What we’re looking for:
Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Experience in a similar role is considered an asset but not essential.
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as In Focus / Unanet.
- Experience with SAGE accounting software is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with management, colleagues, and clients.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and see projects through to completion.
- Strong analytical thinking with sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and adapt to shifting demands.
- Professionalism, integrity, and commitment to confidentiality.
- Flexibility to support various administrative and operational needs.
