We’re looking for our next Senior Manager, Business Analytics. Could It Be You?

The purpose of this role is to serve as the key analytical consultant for business teams at Flexiti (Marketing, Account Management, Product, Sales, Operations), providing data-driven insights from complex financial services data to enable better decision-making, competitive advantage, and business growth.

The Senior Manager of Business Analytics is a critical leadership role reporting directly to the AVP of Analytics & Reporting within Flexiti Financial.

This position acts as the primary analytical partner and consultant for core business functions, including Marketing, Account Management, Product Management, and Sales & Operations.

Key Accountabilities & Areas of Ownership

  • Strategic Consulting: Serve as the main point of contact for the Business teams to understand their goals, objectives, and analytical requirements.
  • Business Analytics Leadership: Own the delivery of all analytics supporting the growth and strategy of the Business functions, ensuring data is translated into clear, actionable insights for senior management.
  • Retail Partner Reporting: Oversee the building and maintenance of critical reports tailored for Flexiti's retail partners.
  • Data Insight & Interpretation: Be the expert responsible for diving deep into raw data using tools like SQL, Power BI, and Python/R to identify hidden trends, drive clearer decision-making, and secure a competitive advantage.
  • Team Management: Manage and mentor a small team of analysts, providing guidance, oversight, and quality control for deliverables.

Core Deliverables

Key deliverables include, but are not limited to: high-quality, flexible reporting templates built from scratch; concise presentations of key findings to senior management; accurate data analysis and interpretation; and process improvements within the analytics function. The ultimate deliverable is data-driven success for Flexiti, its retail partners, and its customers.

The Senior Manager of Business Analytics is primarily responsible for serving as the key analytical partner to Flexiti's Commercial teams and driving data-driven strategy and growth.

Your core responsibilities will be split across three main areas: Strategic Consulting, Analytical Delivery, and Team Leadership:

1. Strategic Consulting & Partnership:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for the business, specifically Marketing, Account Management, Product Management, Sales, and Operations, to understand their goals, processes, and analytical requirements.
  • Consult with the business to align data insights with strategic objectives.

2. Analytical Delivery & Reporting:

  • Be the hands-on expert responsible for querying, analyzing, and validating large amounts of raw data, primarily using SQL.
  • Build, maintain, and own comprehensive reporting for both retail partners and internal Commercial teams.
  • Utilize tools like Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft SSRS, Python, and R to analyze data and develop analytical products.
  • Interpret complex data to provide clear insights that lead to better business decisions, competitive advantages, and the success of the business and its partners.

3. Leadership & Communication:

  • Manage and mentor a small team of analysts.
  • Present quantitative data, key findings, and recommendations concisely and effectively to senior management and other team members using tools like PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Take full ownership of deliverables, ensuring they are produced accurately and on time with minimal supervision.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes and document procedures for producing analytical deliverables.
  1. Technical & Hard Skills

These are the required knowledge areas and tool proficiencies:

  • Financial Services Industry Knowledge: Solid knowledge of the financial services industry, particularly consumer credit products and services (Risk, Analytics, or Marketing).
  • Data Querying & Management: Proven experience using SQL to perform queries, analyze, extract, and validate data.
  • Reporting & Visualization: Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft SSRS.
  • Statistical/Programming Languages: Experience with Python and R.
  1. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

These cover the ability to process data and resolve complex issues:

  • Data Interpretation: Proven ability to effectively analyze and interpret large amounts of raw data to accurately convey business needs.
  • Complex Issue Resolution: Demonstrated ability to identify and effectively resolve issues of a complex nature.
  • Analytical Depth: A curious and persistent determination in reviewing and reconciling variances, coupled with the ability to draw conclusions, provide explanations, and make recommendations based on analysis.
  • Strategic Orientation: Seeing analytics as an opportunity to solve problems and drive business.
  1. Soft Skills & Leadership

These relate to communication, work style, and management capabilities:

  • Communication & Presentation: Excellent communicator with strong oral and written skills required to effectively and concisely present key findings to senior management.
  • Team Management: Experience managing a team or mentoring analysts.
  • Work Ethic & Ownership: Strong work ethic, a willingness to "roll up their sleeves" and get hands dirty, a desire to take full ownership of deliverables, and be accountable for results.
  • Organization & Detail: Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to proactively initiate tasks.
  • Adaptability & Focus: Ability to adjust to fluctuating workload with aggressive deadlines and produce deliverables on time with minimal supervision.
  • Process Improvement: Willingness and ability to continually improve processes and document procedures.

  • 7+ years of experience in reporting, analysis, and strategy development within the financial services industry.
  • Proven experience using SQL to perform queries to analyze, extract, and validate data.
  • Solid knowledge of the financial services industry and the products/services related to consumer credit (Risk, Analytics, or Marketing).
  • Experience managing a team or mentoring analysts.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify issues of a complex nature and effectively resolve them.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft SSRS.
  • Experience with Python and R.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite or Google Suite
  • Strong working knowledge in presenting quantitative data via PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.

Soft Skills & Attributes:

  • Excellent communicator with strong oral and written communication skills required to effectively and concisely present key findings to senior management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to initiate proactively.
  • Strong work ethic, curious, and persistent determination in reviewing and reconciling variances.
  • Desire to take full ownership of deliverables and be accountable for results.
  • Ability to produce deliverables accurately and on time with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adjust to fluctuating workload with the pressure of aggressive deadlines.
  • A preference for someone who likes to "roll up their sleeves" and is happy to work independently.
  • Willingness and ability to continually improve processes and document procedures.

Compensation Information:

  • Base salary range: $135,000 - $150,000
  • The final compensation package will be commensurate with the successful candidate's experience, skills, and geographic location (Canada). It includes a comprehensive benefits plan and a competitive incentive (bonus) program for Full-Time Permanent roles.
