Join our St. Joseph’s Health Centre team as we work to put patients and families at the centre of everything we do, in the role of Physiotherapist on our Health Disciplines Resource Team

Seeking a Physiotherapist with excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills who is comfortable working in acute inpatient units and outpatient clinics. This position will be responsible for providing assessment and treatment recommendations for ambulatory patients coming through the fracture clinic as well as support inpatients throughout the Medicine programs with occasional assistance in the Surgical programs. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload including but not limited to patients with upper and lower extremity conditions following surgical procedures such as shoulder replacement and other upper and lower limb surgeries, as well as admitted patients who present with a variety of diagnoses. Reporting to the Manager, Collaborative Practice and Education and Clinical Manager, 2M, Fracture Clinic & Outpatient Rehabilitation, this permanent part-time role will provide Friday afternoon support to the Fracture Clinic and weekend clinical coverage in diverse inpatient care areas across the health centre.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary role of a physiotherapist is to assess, diagnose within scope, and analyze the impact of injury, disease, disorders, environment factors or lifestyle on movement and function. Physiotherapists promote physical activity and overall health at any stage of life when movement and function are threatened. They prevent and rehabilitate disease, injury, and disability, and manage and improve acute and chronic conditions, activity limitations, participation restrictions and physical performance through intervention and education.

Works effectively as a member of an interprofessional team, collaborating with other disciplines to provide comprehensive patient care

Contributes to the academic mandate of the organization as an educator, resource or support for staff and members of the academic and professional community

Identifies and addresses educational needs for patients and their families

Demonstrates commitment to ongoing professional development in order to continue to provide optimal patient care

Is committed to and participates in ongoing quality improvement and/or research in the organization

Provides patient care in accordance with all professional and organizational standards

Is committed to providing anti oppressive and accessible care for all patients

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be currently licensed by and in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (CPO) for practice in all applicable clinical areas

Must hold a Master’s Degree (or substantial equivalent) in Physiotherapy

Current BLS (or willingness to complete within probationary period)

As required by the program, must be rostered (or willing to roster prior to the end of the probationary period) with the CPO to perform the following activity: Administering a Substance by Inhalation

Experience on Medical and Surgical units preferred

Experience in outpatient musculoskeletal setting preferred

Excellent communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills

Proven flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills as relates to patient care

Demonstrated advocacy, commitment to and involvement with profession preferred (e.g. involvement with professional association, representation on relevant committees)
