Position Overview

We are looking for a Intern in 335 Laird Rd, Suites 2, 3B, 4, 5, Guelph, ON N1G 4P7 CAN. Your mission will be to:

The intern performs technical procedures related to DNA analysis within a high-throughput laboratory environment. Primary responsibilities include sample preparation, DNA extraction, DNA amplification, and electrophoresis to generate operational data. This position requires strict adherence to quality protocols, safety guidelines, and established standard operating procedures.

YOUR PROFILE

Qualifications And Responsibilities

A Biological Technician Diploma or a similar technical course related to laboratory analysis. Specialized knowledge and experience with DNA analytical procedures (e.g., DNA extraction, PCR setup), instrumentation (thermal cyclers, capillary electrophoresis), and related data collection software programs. Sound knowledge of sample handling procedures to ensure the continuity and integrity of samples through compliance with quality protocols. Knowledge of and experience with laboratory Occupational Health and Safety practices for handling hazardous materials. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and efficient time management to optimize laboratory processes. Ability to work independently on routine procedures following established Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions, while maintaining effective team collaboration. Focused for extended periods of time and handle a high volume of samples over numerous consecutive manipulations without error. Follow laboratory Occupational Health and Safety practices to handle hazardous and biohazardous materials using the necessary precautions. Coordinate and communicate clearly with colleagues within the Department to support operational efficiency and project management. Document and maintain accurate laboratory records. Prepare standards and reagents, and complete daily, weekly, and monthly duties according to the analyst schedule. Operate and maintain specialized laboratory instrumentation, including thermal cyclers and capillary electrophoresis systems, utilizing accompanying data collection software. Ensure compliance with laboratory procedures and quality assurance protocols to maintain sample continuity and integrity. Assist with QA/QC tasks to meet ISO 17025 guidelines.

Compensation: $19-21 CAD

4 Month Co-op
