The Manager supports the Director of English Education, Programs and Services in overseeing the design, development, implementation, innovation and maintenance of programs and curriculum for English public education system. The Manager provides leadership to the curriculum and programs team, is a member of the department’s management team and provides advice and assistance to the Minister and Deputy Minister of Education and Early Years.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Supports the Director with educational programming and initiatives, including the Strategic Plan goals as set out by the Department of Education and Early Years;
- Provides leadership, direction and support to several legislated provincial committees, and liaises with stakeholders;
- Provides high quality advice and information to the Senior Management Team;
- Collaborates with the Manager of Services in professional learning of the English public education system initiatives;
- Directs work plan for the division staff;
- Prepares and presents written and oral communications for internal and external audiences;
- Chairs and/or provides oversight for select provincial committees and support ongoing collaboration.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in education, supplemented by course work and/or training in educational leadership and/or curriculum development.
- Currently holds or is able to secure PEI Teacher Level 6 Academic Certification.
- Considerable experience in the development of systemic curriculum initiatives, funding formulas and budget management, and development and execution of effective work plans.
- Must have ten years teaching experience in the public education system.
- Applicants must have proven leadership and administrative skills in public education.
- System leadership experience at the school board and/or departmental level would be considered an asset.
- Supervisory experience in a complex setting would be considered an asset.
- Considerable experience leading controversial and/or challenging program changes would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to research-based, best practices in curriculum and program development.
- Experience with social emotional learning, competency-based, and/or diversity, equity and inclusion in the curriculum would be considered assets.
- Applicants must also possess excellent written and oral communication and team-building skills.
Other Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the PEI School System.
