Senior Electrical Estimator
About the role
The senior Electrical Estimator is primarily responsible for collaborating with the Estimating Department and other teams to prepare electrical and general construction estimates, budgets, schedules, and proposal documents using current costing methods. These deliverables support both winning new projects and executing ongoing work.
A secondary responsibility is to assist the Engineering Department with electrical drawings, takeoffs, and technical support as needed. This work is performed under varying levels of supervision depending on experience.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for underground electrical systems including power distribution, automation, communications, and dewatering infrastructure.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to determine material, labor, and equipment requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field supervisors to ensure estimates reflect realistic constructability and sequencing in underground environments.
- Prepare detailed takeoffs and pricing for cable runs, switchgear, Motor Control Centers (MCCs), substations, control systems, and lighting installations across both new developments and existing mine workings.
- Source and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with technical specifications.
- Use InEight estimating software to develop detailed cost breakdowns, bid summaries, and comprehensive tender submissions.
- Lead bid reviews and present to senior management and clients, clearly explaining key assumptions, major risks, and the reasoning behind the proposed approach.
- Assess and integrate mine‑specific considerations, including ground conditions, ventilation requirements, equipment access, and scheduling constraints into project estimates and planning.
- Ensure all estimates comply with company standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements within the mining industry.
- Prepare single-line electrical drawings as needed to support material takeoffs and to include in project submissions
Salary Range (Base): $96,000.00 - $132,000.00 - Based on knowledge, skills, and experience.

Required: Post-Secondary Education (mathematical and/or scientific)
Preferred: Mining Engineering Degree, Mining Technician or Technologist Diploma or relevant equivalent
Work Experience:
Required: 1-2 years’ related experience &/or knowledge of Underground mining operations
Preferred: 2-4 years’ Underground work experience, practical and engineering
Bilingualism is an asset.
