Operations Analyst 1 (IT Service Ops and Jira)

Annual salary: $ 78,000.00 - 84,100.00
Position Highlights
To support the development of process improvements and metrics-based performance measurement and reporting by
analyzing operational data, financial data and operational processes to provide information about operational performance
and its cost to the organization. Ensures policies and procedures are consistently followed in order to enable the
comparison of meaningful and accurate operational and financial data.
What you'll do
- Implements new or revised analytical tools, processes, and reports by selecting analytical tools and methods, performing
requirements analysis, and testing and rolling-out new tools, processes and reports. Ensures requirements meet all
business and stakeholder needs by consulting with stakeholders and translating business needs into project components
such as analysis, reports, and new or revised systems or processes.
- Participates with senior department staff in system, report or process enhancement projects by drafting business cases,
proposing resource requirements, and by developing preliminary scope definitions and cost analyses that will meet targets.
Develops and presents process change proposals and recommendations; liaises with system development staff to discuss
and organize programming and other resources to meet task schedules for approved projects. Tests features of proposed
systems changes and evaluates the associated process changes.
- Communicates on project status by preparing and distributing communication updates and other information regarding the
status of assigned systems and process projects.
- Participates with senior department staff in the implementation of new systems and processes by training users and
business partners and by developing procedures to support business and operational requirements.
- Provides training and on-going support to process users including the development of procedures to support business and
operational requirements. Follows up to ensure that conflicts, anomalies and problems between operational and financial
systems, procedures and policies are identified and corrected and that changes improve the effectiveness of management
reporting.
- Provides information on operational and financial performance through continuous improvement or development of
various PC-based applications to facilitate analysis, financial and operational controls, summarization of information and
preparation of informal and formal reports.
- Identifies and evaluates new or revised systems, processes, ad hoc query tools and reporting opportunities by analyzing
existing and proposed business systems, processes and reports, and by identifying opportunities to improve processes,
controls, information and decision-making.
- Carries out business process modelling by developing process and data flows depicting the integration of operational and
financial systems, processes and data for use by others in the identification of root problems and in the facilitation of
discussions with stakeholders to develop a shared understanding of opportunities and issues.
- Prepares informal and formal communication materials and participates in different venues (such as reports, email, face-
to-face discussions) to build relationships between operations, finance and information technology support and other
business partners in an effort to enhance processes and operational metrics.
- Performs minor duties related to the above duties that do not affect the rating of the job.
What you bring
- Completion of a university degree in business administration or commerce with additional coursework or work experience
in business modeling, business analysis and business writing plus completion of in-house courses or equivalent courses in
Poweron, Outage Management Data Warehouse, Portal Cognos Data Warehouse and Passport Work Management.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in the process analysis of operational and financial data gained by involvement in a
variety of different projects.

This is a hybrid position requiring two days in the office, Tuesday and Wednesday.

This role is part of the IT Service Operations and Jira Platform team, responsible for supporting Incident Management,
Process Management tools and workflows, and the Service Desk function. Additionally, the role provides administration and
support for the Enterprise Jira Cloud platform, including identifying and evaluating opportunities for business teams to
maximize the platform’s value.

Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation Certificate considered an asset

Experience with Atlassian cloud platform administration is preferred.

Experience with ServiceNow is preferred.
