About the role
SENIOR LITIGATION LAW CLERK Lawrence, Lawrence, Stevenson LLP ("Lawrences"), one of the Region of Peel's premier multi-service law firms, is seeking an on-site, full-time experienced senior Law Clerk to join the firm's Litigation Group. This role involves working directly with other group members - supervising lawyers, senior law clerks and administrative assistants, in support of the firm's litigation practice.
Qualifications And Responsibilities
- a minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a litigation law clerk
- a person who is detail-oriented, with excellent accuracy and proficiency in drafting, communication (verbal and written), and organizational/time management skills
- completion of a post-secondary diploma as an accredited Law Clerk
- experience with general commercial and civil litigation is required; experience in estate litigation, construction lien, employment, and assessments of costs are an asset
- ability to manage a variety of files from start to finish; some with extensive complexity, including drafting pleadings, affidavits of documents, motion materials and facta, case conferences, discoveries and undertakings follow-up, pre-trial conferences, and trials including the various court requirements for service, filing and uploading
- proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) and the various court portals and Case Centre are required; experience with Kofax,
- NetDocuments, ACL and Acumin are an asset
- ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines and to take initiative with minimal supervision, working well and independently in a team environment
- knowledge of current legal and technical procedures, rules and regulations applicable to civil litigation
- dedication to diligence and excellent, timely quality service for clients, with professional and courteous communications with everyone
