Posting Overview:
The Building Services Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the daily operations and maintenance of Lambton Kent District School Board facility exterior grounds, landscaping, snow and ice management, outdoor infrastructure, and preventive maintenance programs. This position ensures that all groundskeeping activities are performed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard of quality. This position supervises a team of staff who provide exterior services to Board locations by coordinating schedules, assigning tasks, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
This role serves as the primary point of contact for grounds-related issues under the direction of the Manager of Facility Operations to plan seasonal projects, manage vendor relationships, and support special events or emergency response efforts as needed.
Qualifications/Experience:

Post-secondary education in Horticulture and/or Landscape design preferred; related education and experience will be considered;

Minimum 2 years of experience in grounds maintenance, facility operations, landscape and/or property maintenance design;

Valid G class driver’s license is required;
-
Ontario Pesticide Training Certification is an asset.
Other Key Skills & Knowledge:

Coordinate staff and summer student crews, ensuring compliance with safety protocols for all equipment used;
-
Implement environmentally friendly grounds maintenance practices;
-
Experience with health and safety regulations and preventive maintenance planning;
-
Experience coordinating contractor services;
-
Ability to respond to emergency call-out situations;
-
Ability to read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and safety guidelines;
-
Ability to communicate as a team member with school principals, building services staff and other staff in order to develop and implement grounds maintenance and landscape designs;
-
Proficiency with computer software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and work order systems;
-
Thorough working knowledge of all relevant legislation and regulations (e.g. Building code, municipal by-laws);
-
Thorough working knowledge in the proper handling of chemicals;
-
Must have the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs;
-
Daily travel throughout the district is required using a Board-provided vehicle;
-
All other duties as assigned by the Manager of Facility Operations.
Position Effective Date & Length:
Non-union, 12 month
Hours of work: 35 hours/week, 12:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. (May-August schedule is 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.)
Position will oversee the Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent areas. Home location is based in Sarnia.
Compensation:
Level 2 - $65,842 - $73,158/annum
Comprehensive benefit package and OMERS pension plan are provided.
