As our project portfolio continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer (P.Eng.) to join our team.
Position Overview
The successful candidate will be a technically strong structural engineer with a minimum of five years of consulting experience who is comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for structural analysis, design, construction engineering, and site investigations. This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, including industrial facilities, municipal infrastructure, commercial buildings, existing structures, and structural assessments. The ideal candidate is technically strong, team player, and interested in developing practical engineering solutions from concept through construction.
Key Responsibilities
Perform structural analysis and design for steel and concrete structures. Prepare engineering calculations, design reports, specifications, and construction drawings. Review drawings and calculations prepared by others. Conduct structural assessments and site investigations of existing facilities. Perform construction reviews and field inspections throughout Western Canada. Provide practical engineering solutions during construction. Coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical, and project management teams. Communicate directly with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders. Support proposal preparation and technical planning when required. Support preparation of construction packages, cost estimates, and tender documents.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered, or eligible for immediate registration, with APEGA. Minimum five years of structural consulting experience. Strong knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada and relevant CSA design standards. Demonstrated experience performing structural calculations and engineering design independently. Experience with existing structures, structural assessments, and rehabilitation projects is considered an asset. Experience providing construction engineering support and responding to field issues. Ability to travel throughout Western Canada for site visits. Valid Class 5 driver's licence.
Experience in energy, municipal, or industrial facilities
Experience with construction support and field coordination
Assets (Nice to Have)
Experience with building construction, renovations, and building assessments would be considered an asset. Experience with timber and masonry structures would be considered an asset. Experience with project management practices (scope, cost, schedule control) is an asset
Personal Attributes
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated and capable of working independently. Practical, client-focused approach to engineering. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
