Position: Planner

Job Location: Goodall Manufacturing - Collingwood, Ontario

Job Type: Full-Time

Status: Non-Exempt

Summary of the Role

The Planner is responsible for coordinating and optimizing production schedules to ensure efficient use of materials, labor, and equipment within the manufacturing facility. This role works closely with production, purchasing, and customer service teams to ensure materials and resources are available to meet production and customer delivery requirements. The Planner analyzes demand, capacity, and inventory levels to develop and maintain production schedules that support operational goals. This position reports to the Production Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Must maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide quotes to internal (LGG) and external customers
  • Manage raw material and finished goods inventory and ensure cycle counts are complete
  • Review safety stock targets and recommend changes to targets to better meet needs of customer orders
  • Plan production throughout the facility to meet stock and order targets/requirements
  • Provide completion dates/delivery estimates of customer orders for internal and external sales (allocate finished products to the sales orders when complete)
  • Issue production orders and schedules to the production office for distribution to the shop floor in a coordinated sequence to ensure maximum productivity and on time delivery
  • Interact with raw materials purchasing and MRO purchasing to ensure materials and supplies are delivered on time to support production schedules
  • Adjust schedules as required to meet changing needs
  • Highlight areas where resources need to be focused to achieve production schedule targets/goals
  • Suggest plans to reduce lead time, reduce waste, and maximize productivity

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel: creating formulas, pivot tables and lookups
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effectively communicates with internal and external customers
  • Previous experience with an operating system, ERP and WMS experience
  • Experience with inventory investigations/root cause analysis
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to make decisions and take actions without the total picture
  • Ability to deal constructively with problems that may not have clear solutions or outcomes.
  • Detail oriented, independent thinking, self-starting, motivated
  • Self-motivated and with the ability to handle multiple tasks/projects and manage priorities accordingly.
  • Understanding of manufacturing constraints

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years post-secondary education related to supply chain management, operations management, business, engineering, or a related field is preferred
  • Equivalent work experience and demonstration of success is accepted
  • Basic knowledge of inventory control and production processes is essential
  • Familiarity with ERP systems
  • Able to follow written and/or oral instructions in English
  • Ability to work overtime, as required
  • Background check is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
