Purpose of the job

Under the supervision the Technical Design Supervisor, the incumbent must have a general knowledge of apparel products (sleepwear, and lingerie or stretchwear would be an asset).

The incumbent will be responsible for producing technical drawings and specifications for the development of styles, evaluating samples, writing and sending reports for improvements to be made by the plants up to the production stage.

Job descriptions

  • Prepare work files for suppliers with PLM, create with Illustrator the technical drawings black and white, interior and exterior, front and back with the necessary stitching, finishing technique and construction as well as measurements and gradation according to the established standards.
  • Ensure that information is complete for style development as well as for obtaining pricing with our suppliers;
  • Measure and evaluate the quality of the styles under his/her responsibility;
  • Prepare fitting sessions with team members;
  • Communicate with suppliers for corrections, fittings and quality reports;
  • Communicate internally any significant changes or quality issues during development;
  • Participate in collection presentation meetings to start the styles under his/her responsibility;
  • Provide technical support for other team members as needed;
  • Work closely with the purchasing and design teams, while ensuring that the style direction matches the products purchased;
  • Maintain up-to-date documents regarding the quality standards established by the company.

Your profile

  • Fashion expertise : You have more than 10 years of relevant experience in technical design in the world of swimwear, ready-to-wear, lingerie or bra or better yet, in several of these categories.
  • Sharp technical eye : You are proficient in Illustrator to create precise and detailed technical drawings, you are comfortable with PLM and you understand the impact of each seam, finish and gradation.
  • Bilingualism essential : You are perfectly comfortable in French and English, both oral and written, to collaborate effectively with our international suppliers and internal teams.
  • Natural collaboration : You know how to work hand in hand with purchasing and design, you share your expertise with the team, and you enjoy moving projects forward together.
  • Rigor and leadership : You are autonomous, structured and proactif.ve. You have a sense of priorities and do not hesitate to take the lead to ensure quality and compliance with standards.

Requirements

  • College diploma in fashion design or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience;
  • General knowledge of the following products: Beachwear, and/or, ready-to-wear, and/or, swimwear, (Lingerie or Stretch, an asset) ;
  • Bilingualism essential in writing (English and French) and basic functional English to speak it (The person will have to interact with suppliers from outside Canada);
  • Knowledge of Illustrator, PLM and Microsoft software;
  • Knowledge and relevant experience in pattern and gradation.
