Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Procurement Supervisor, the Buyer will be responsible for all aspects of the procurement process, from strategic planning to contract closure, as well as executing all administrative tasks within the procurement function to ensure the continuity of mine operations and enhance productivity.
The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Procurement Management
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for the purchase of goods and services.
- Draft and manage the request for quotes and/or tender processes.
- Evaluate and analyze the bids received during the request for quotes and/or tender processes.
- Purchase Order Preparation and Management
- Track orders throughout the procurement process.
- Coordinate deliveries and manage returns or claims.
- Commercial Contracts
- Negotiate contracts or terms and conditions for goods and services.
- Draft contracts for good and services.
- Assist in contract administration.
- Needs Analysis
- Collaborate with internal departments to understand their needs.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with internal clients as well as suppliers.
- Cost Management
- Identify cost reduction opportunities.
- Continuous Improvement
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to procurement processes.
- Analyze supplier performance and propose opportunities for improvement in service quality and profitability.
- Perform any other related tasks as requested by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in a relevant discipline;
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in similar roles;
- Mastery of work processes and best practices in procurement management;
- Customer-focused approach and ability to manage change;
- Proficiency in analytical tools and procurement-specific software;
- Bilingualism in French and English (spoken and written);
- Excellent proficiency in various MS Office software;
- Multitasking skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Assets
- Experience in the mining industry;
- Knowledge of procurement and inventory management, transportation logistics, and hazardous materials management;
- Familiarity with the Guide TI system.
