About the role
Do you enjoy working outside and interacting with the public? Our Human Resources Department is currently accepting applications for the casual position of Landfill Attendant. Reporting to the Supervisor of Environmental Services and Sustainability, this position is responsible for the day-to-day operations within any of The County’s Landfill or Transfer Sites. The Landfill Attendant is expected to follow County procedures and guidelines related to the disposal of waste and recyclables and will be responsible for collecting and submitting all fees and charges as per County Policy.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Successful completion of Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent, required. Consideration may be given to a combination of education and related experience.
- Strong customer-service focus with the ability to communicate effectively with residents and those using our landfill sites.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Previous experience in cash management, preferred.
- Knowledge and training under the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s Licence in good standing with the ability to independently travel to remote sites for work.
- Proof of a satisfactory criminal background check, dated within the last 6 months.
- Must be willing and able to work Saturdays and occasional weekdays, dependent upon hours of operation.
The current rate of pay for this position is $26.97 to $28.22 per hour, as per Band 4 of CUPE Local 2275’s Collective Agreement. plus 10% in lieu of benefits and 6% in lieu of vacation pay. Please submit your application prior to 4:00 pm on June 5th, 2026, to careers@pecounty.on.ca.
