We are seeking an Engineering Technologist to join our team of passionate, knowledgeable, and innovative engineering professionals. In this role, you will play a key part in the land development application process. If you are looking for a career that offers both challenges and opportunities, we encourage you to keep reading.

This role is based in our Development Services Section and will collaborate closely with the Planning and Engineering teams on a variety of development projects.

##Responsibilities

  • Perform technical transportation review of land development applications and land use plans to ensure compliance with bylaws, municipal Engineering Design Criteria, transportation standards, and applicable guidelines.
  • Assess transportation impacts, recommend solutions, and provide technical comments at various stages of the development approval process.
  • Liaise with internal departments and represent the City to external agencies, engineering consultants, developers, and the public regarding development applications, clearly communicating transportation requirements and participating in public consultation events as required.
  • Prepare and coordinate Terms of Reference (TOR) for Transportation Impact Assessments (TIA's) for development applications, review and provide comments to ensure compliance, and generate solutions based on engineering best practices and industry standards, while identifying opportunities to improve existing processes and procedures.
  • Manage multiple concurrent development files with competing deadlines in a fast-paced municipal environment.

##Qualifications

  • One-year certificate in a related Engineering Technology field with at least three years of relevant engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. OR
  • Completion of a two-year diploma in a related Engineering Technology field relevant to the position with exposure to relevant engineering work.
  • Applicants must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.
  • Experience with a consulting firm or municipality on construction or land development projects is an asset.
