About the role
Service Estimators are responsible for accurately estimating the cost of labor, equipment, and materials for service work. Also, preparing proposals for equipment repair, replacements, and preventative maintenance agreements. Communication with the operations team is required to execute repairs efficiently and with clients and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate job profitability to make appropriate estimating improvements.
- Prepare accurate estimates and proposals for recommended repairs, direct replacements, and preventative maintenance agreements; occasionally assisting the projects estimating team with project estimates;
- Ensure company standards and procedures are followed;
- Evaluate the accuracy of recommendations, determine possible system issues and opportunities, as well as communicate those findings with the appropriate Territory Manager ;
- Create estimate and proposal templates to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency;
- Communicate with Territory Manager to finalize proper proposals, as per client requirements;
- Work with Sales to prepare accurate estimates and proposals for preventative maintenance opportunities;
- Communicate leads for upgrades, retrofits, and new construction to the Estimating team;
- Communicate with Service operations to ensure estimates are accurately detailed including parts, labor and customer requirements; and
- Work with the Purchase Order Administrator to ensure proper parts are ordered.
Minimum Qualifications/Certifications
- 2-3 years experience working on mechanical or construction estimates;
- Trades ticket, Technical Diploma, or post Secondary Degree;
- Experience with estimating software;
- Demonstatrated Intermediate to Advanced level of Microsoft Office products with a focus on Excel; and
- Class 5 Drivers License.
Desirable Qualifications/Certifications
- Registration as an EIT, considered an asset;
- Mechanical Engineering Degree is an asset; and
- Working experience in the HVAC/Refrigeration industry or construction industry is preferred.
