The Opportunity
The City of St. John’s Archives and Records Management Division is seeking a detail oriented and organized individual to assist with a series of short term projects within the division.
Accountabilities
Under the direction of the Division Manager, the Archives Officer will carry out project tasks that include processing and cataloguing archival maps and drawings, digitizing photographs, assigning metadata, performing data entry, and conducting research as needed.
The successful applicant will be required to participate in all training programs applicable to this position and other related work. Qualifications
- High School Diploma required.
- Some post‑secondary education in Records or Information Management is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and multi‑tasking abilities.
- Ability to work independently with a high level of attention to detail.
- Experience with Records Management software is considered an asset.
Other Requirements
- Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Criminal Record Screening Certificate or equivalent - Dated not more than six months prior to hire
Hours of Work
Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Period of employment: June 29 - August 21, 2026
