Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Mechanical Designer Co-op
About the role
The Roberts Onsite Mechanical division is searching for a high-performing and driven student who is interested in exploring 3D modelling. The Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Mechanical Designer Co-op position is located in Kitchener, Ontario and reports directly to the Mechanical Division Manager. This is an four (4) month co-op opportunity for the winter semester (January 2026-April 2026).

Your Role And Essential Job Functions
- Bridge engineered concepts and schematics to installed systems;
- Review initial project layout and specifications;
- Refine and coordinate pipe routing using mechanical design and fabrication software, like REVIT & SysQue;
- With assistance, assess feasibility of fabrication design and installation;
- Process the model through to our prefabrication and manufacturing shop to be fabricated;
- Assist the estimating department with preparation of estimates;
- Work with our in-house trade groups to ensure effective fabrication;
- Participate in fabrication productivity tracking;
- Other duties as assigned;
- Act with the best interest of Roberts Onsite at all times.
Education And Experience Requirements
- Currently enrolled in Diploma or Degree program in mechanical or architectural construction engineering, or related field;
- Knowledge of mechanical systems is an asset, but not required;
- New graduates or upcoming graduates welcome to apply;

Software

Proficient in REVIT and AutoCAD;

Training will be provided for 3D scanning and transitioning the point cloud model into the REVIT software;

Skilled user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project) and Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam;

Accubid estimating software an asset, but will train.
