Description JOB SUMMARY:Within the context of a client/patient and family-centred framework and continuum based care model and in accordance with established standards of professional practice and the vision, values and policies of the organization, the Registered Clinical Social Worker works independently as a member of an interdisciplinary team specializing in mental health assessment and treatment. The Registered Clinical Social Worker conducts complex psychosocial assessments and determines client mental health diagnosis based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Provides evidence-based psychotherapy and treatment of psychological disorders through provision of therapeutic interventions, education, and consultation to clients/patients/families. Provides clinical recommendations to the interdisciplinary team regarding the most effective form of treatment based on the diagnosis. Delivers education to individuals, couples, families, and community professionals. Assesses clients’ progress, ensures complete documentation, and provides ongoing support. QUALIFICATIONS:QUALIFICATIONSEducation & Experience Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited University. Minimum five (5) years recent, related clinical experience in therapeutic, diagnostic and consultation services in the designated scope of practice areas of mental health & substance use services. Psychotherapeutic experience working with individuals and groups with psychological stress, trauma or an equivalent combination of education training and experience. Current full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers as a Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW).Valid B.C. Driver’s License may be required as local area travel may require the use of a vehicle and will be listed on the posting. Knowledge & AbilitiesComprehensive knowledge of evidence supported therapeutic psychotherapy and other interventions Comprehensive knowledge of the DSM and application for assessment purposes. Demonstrated knowledge of comprehensive psychosocial and psychological assessment, including semi-structured diagnostic assessment.Demonstrated knowledge of therapeutic, diagnostic and consultation techniques.Demonstrated knowledge of therapeutic interventions, including the establishment of treatment goals and plans and differential treatment planning,Demonstrated ability in providing psychotherapy to address psychological stress and trauma.Demonstrated ability to apply of Trauma Informed Principles to practice. Demonstrated ability to apply a harm reduction approach.Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.Demonstrated knowledge of the scope of practice, code of ethics and standards of practice for the Clinical Social Work designation under the BC College of Social WorkDemonstrated understanding of health care ethics and ability to incorporate ethical decision making in practice.Demonstrated knowledge of legislation and government policies and procedures as it relates to the rights of clients and obligations of staff including understanding of the Mental Health Act.Broad knowledge of substance use issues and treatment.Broad knowledge of application of standard of practice related to professional boundariesBroad knowledge of research process and methodology.Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, leader and facilitator.Demonstrated ability to communicate with, and deal effectively with, co-workers, clients and their families, both one-on-one and in groups.Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive risk assessments. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.Demonstrated ability to effectively manage conflict situations and aggressive behavior and use non-violent crisis intervention and behavioral management techniques.Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.Basic computer literacy.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
