About the role
Position Description
We are looking for a motivated Underground Estimator to join our team, specializing in water, sanitary, and storm infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for candidates with 0–5 years of experience who are eager to build a career in estimating heavy civil construction and municipal servicing projects.
You will work closely with both the Division and Operations Managers to prepare accurate and competitive bids for projects across Calgary and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs
- Attend Pre-Tender Meetings
- Solicit and review subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Develop accurate cost estimates for review
- Prepare project handover to operations team
- Maintain updates unit rate and cost databases
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients
- Analyze and review the performance of projects and bids
Qualifications

- 0-5 years of experience in civil construction estimating
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Ability to read and interpret civil drawings and profiles
- Strong skills in Excel (experience with estimating software is an asset)
- Knowledge of City of Calgary Specifications and Standards
