Job Summary

The Cook Chill Food Production Center is located on the grounds of the

Maplehurst Correctional Facility; however, Cook Chill operates as an independent production facility and is separate from Maplehurst Corrections. There are no inmates on site at any time. Civeo Premium associates do not have any interaction with, nor access to, inmates.

Civeo Premium Services is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Appliance

Technician Supervisor to lead the maintenance team responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of commercial kitchen and food production equipment within a highly regulated environment.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role is based in Milton, Ontario, and

plays a critical role in ensuring equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will oversee daily maintenance activities, provide technical guidance and leadership to maintenance personnel, and ensure adherence to food safety and regulatory standards, including CFIA, HACCP, and OHSA requirements. Working closely with facilities, production, and operational teams, the Appliance Technician Supervisor will drive continuous improvement initiatives, minimize equipment downtime, and maintain high standards of safety, service, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and support maintenance technicians and contractors to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work practices. 

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities for commercial kitchen and facility equipment. 

  • Assign daily work orders, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks. 

  • Oversee the installation, commissioning, and repair of commercial kitchen equipment and related systems. 

  • Provide technical guidance and support in troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues. 

  • Monitor equipment performance, identify improvement opportunities, and implement strategies to reduce downtime and maintenance costs. 

  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and operational readiness.

  • Ensure compliance with OHSA requirements, food safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and company safety policies. 

  • Maintain and review maintenance records, work orders, inventory levels, and performance metrics within the CMMS. 

  • Work on tools and perform hands-on maintenance activities when required, while overseeing daily maintenance operations and supporting team performance.

  • Manage maintenance inventory, spare parts, tools, and equipment to support operational requirements. 

  • Collaborate with operations, facilities, and production teams to prioritize maintenance activities and support business objectives. 

  • Participate in staff recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management activities. 

  • Assist with budgeting, capital planning, and maintenance-related projects. 

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade certification considered an asset. 

  • 7+ years of maintenance experience in commercial kitchen, food production, industrial, or facility maintenance environments. 

  • 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience. 

  • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance programs, equipment reliability, and maintenance best practices. 

  • Experience with commercial kitchen or food production equipment is preferred. 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop employees in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Experience prioritizing workloads, scheduling resources, and managing multiple maintenance projects simultaneously. 

  • Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems. 

  • Experience using CMMS systems for maintenance planning, tracking, and reporting. 

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Welding, fabrication, PLC, and automation experience considered assets. 

  • Forklift, scissor lift, or overhead crane certifications considered assets. 

  • Food Safety Certification (or ability to obtain). 

  • Comfortable working in a secure and regulated facility. 

  • Successful completion of a vulnerable sector check, criminal record check, and any other required security clearances.
