Huawei Canada has an immediate 12-month contract opening for a Senior Engineer About the team: Established in 2014, the Distributed Scheduling and Data Engine Lab is Huawei Cloud's technical innovation center in Canada. The lab focuses on researching and developing advanced cloud technologies, supporting the productization and iterative optimization of its technical achievements. Current research areas include cloud native databases, infrastructure resource scheduling and prediction, cloud-native middleware, media engines, and user experience studies. The lab fosters a robust technical environment, allowing collaboration with industry experts to create a highly competitive cloud platform.
About the job:
- Contribute to the development of next-generation LLM-powered AI agents for cloud services, focusing on agent design, orchestration, and integration into PaaS platforms.
- Build AI tooling, application platforms, and integration services leveraging large language models and generative AI.
- Work closely with a team of AI researchers and cloud engineers to design, implement, and evaluate AI-driven solutions.
- Conduct applied research on AI agents and LLM systems, with opportunities to publish, patent, and advance the state of the art.
Job requirements
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- Experience with Deep Learning, NLP, Generative AI, and AI Agent development, with practical knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Strong skills in Python (primary language); familiarity with other languages such as Java or SQL is a plus.
- Proficiency with PyTorch and experience with neural architectures (e.g., Transformers, RNNs, GRUs, LSTMs).
- Knowledge of advanced Generative AI techniques, including LLM fine-tuning, RAG/Graph RAG, and Vector Databases.
- Familiarity with AI agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain (LangGraph), LlamaIndex) and agentic workflow orchestration.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a team-first attitude as well as the ability to work independently on research and implementation tasks.
