About the role
The Site Utilities Manager is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant utilities, including boilers, gas and electrical distribution, wastewater treatment, biogas recovery, and overall site infrastructure. This role ensures that all utility systems effectively support production requirements while maintaining full compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.
The position also oversees the facilities management program, ensuring a clean, safe, and fully operational work environment across the site. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations and requires regular interaction with contractors, as well as unionized and salaried staff.

Lead the daily operation and maintenance of all plant utility systems, including:
- Boilers and steam systems
- Natural gas distribution
- Electrical and energy management systems
- Wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) and biogas recovery systems

Provide management oversight of:
- Boiler and refrigeration systems
- Island Gas operations
- WWTP and biogas generation facility

Develop, implement, and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all utility assets to ensure reliability and efficiency.

Ensure all utility operations comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Manage contractors and service providers for utilities and facility systems.

Support continuous improvement initiatives related to energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and cost optimization.

Lead and mentor maintenance and operations staff to promote a culture of safety, reliability, and accountability.

Post-secondary education in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical, or Power Engineering.

5 to 7 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment or similar industrial setting.

Strong technical knowledge of utility systems (boiler, electrical, gas, refrigeration, WWTP, and biogas).

Proven experience in managing teams in a unionized work environment.

Demonstrated understanding of regulatory and environmental compliance related to utilities and plant operations.

Strong problem-solving, leadership, and organizational skills.
