The Faculty of Education’s Innovation & Infrastructure team supports the academic mission of the Faculty by leading the planning, development, and evolution of physical, digital, and technical environments across SFU’s Burnaby, Surrey, and Vancouver campuses. The team provides strategic oversight of facilities, technology, infrastructure services, and special projects that enable high-quality teaching, research, and community engagement. Working in close partnership with faculty leadership, central university units, and external partners, the team advances SFU’s institutional priorities related to innovation, sustainability, and inclusive excellence. The team culture is collaborative, forward-thinking, service-oriented, and grounded in trust, accountability, and continuous improvement.

About the Role

The Director, Innovation & Infrastructure plays a critical leadership role in shaping the Faculty of Education’s physical and technological environment in support of its academic vision and strategic priorities. Reporting to the Dean and serving as a key member of the Faculty leadership team, the Director provides strategic, operational, and entrepreneurial leadership across facilities, IT, and large-scale initiatives. The role oversees multi-campus infrastructure planning, major renovations, technology pilots, and complex projects that enhance teaching, research, and program delivery. Upcoming initiatives include space optimization, infrastructure modernization, technology innovation pilots, and the development of sustainable, client-focused service models. The Director leads diverse teams of subject matter experts, collaborates extensively with university partners and external stakeholders, and ensures projects are delivered on time, on budget, and with long-term value. This role is ideal for a strategic leader who thrives at the intersection of innovation, infrastructure, and academic impact.
