About the role

Working in the McMaster Children's Hospital Autism Program, the Behaviour Therapist will develop and provide behaviour reduction treatment services and supports to children and youth (up to age 18) who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, and their families. Services may be provided in groups as well an individually. Parent workshops and training will be an integral component of the services. The Behaviour Therapist will work as a member of an integrated service delivery team within the Autism Program

  1. Baccalaureate Degree with a focus of studies in behaviour analysis or a related field; Master’s Degree with a focus of studies in behaviour analysis or a related field completed or in progress considered an asset.
  2. Demonstrated skills in the areas of behavioural assessment, service coordination, and treatment planning with children and/or youth with a developmental disability.
  3. Three to five years clinical experience in providing Applied Behaviour Analysis services and supports to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  4. Experience in providing education/training to caregivers of autistic children and youth 6.
  5. Experience working as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  7. Computer skills and experience with data management
  8. Possession of a valid driver's license and use of a vehicle
  9. Bilingual fluency in French would be an asset
  10. Participation in a criminal reference screening process
  11. Must be able to obtain a valid Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS)
