Electrical Designer

Role and Objectives: We are seeking an Electrical Designer to join our modular construction MEP team. This role is primarily focused on electrical design while also contributing to multi-disciplinary projects across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. Reporting to the Design Manager, you will support Sales and Project Teams with concept design, 3D modeling, and critical project elements to ensure the successful delivery of MEP systems. You will interpret project plans, coordinate with Mass Timber and light-frame modular structures, review building codes, and ensure structural and MEP designs maximize both functionality and customer vision. Your creative problem-solving will help you navigate design challenges and adapt to evolving project requirements. By applying meticulous attention to detail, you’ll ensure precision and quality in every drawing and specification. With your effective time management, you’ll balance multiple priorities and deadlines, contributing to the timely and successful delivery of sustainable, high-performance timber projects. Key Responsibilities Technical Design & Modeling Primarily focused on the electrical application of the design process Develop and manage 3D fabrication models and detailed shop drawings for mass timber and modular structures. Design and document MEP systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical, in alignment with architectural and structural designs. Provide alternate design and specification solutions when challenges arise, ensuring the best possible outcomes for the project. Analyze and recommend solutions for issues encountered during manufacturing or construction. Assist with creating MEP standard documents. Coordinate with external consultants for stamped electrical drawings as required by project scope. Project Coordination & Collaboration Work closely with project teams to establish strategies, processes, and timelines for successful project delivery. Align architectural, structural, and MEP designs, resolving discrepancies in coordination with relevant stakeholders. Contribute to the cooperative development of mass timber and modular system solutions tailored to project requirements. Participate in client and consultant meetings to communicate MEP design intent Documentation & Quality Control Prepare and maintain project schedules, design files, and supporting documentation. Manage and update company historic design files to ensure accuracy and consistency. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and industry standards. Support continuous improvement of design and fabrication processes. Requirements: Education: Post-secondary degree or diploma in mechanical engineering, architectural technologies, electrical technician, Building Sciences, Engineering, or Architecture, or similar subject preferred. Experience 3 years in electrical design using BIM software. Familiarity with electrical Canadian and US codes. 2 years in BIM coordination (preferred). Experience with prefabrication and modular construction detailing (preferred) Compensation Package: Salary: $65,000.00 – $80,000.00 (Dependent on experience) Health Spending Account Extended health benefits including health, dental, vision, RRSP program.
