The opportunity:
The Sport Development Coordinator is responsible for planning, administration and delivery of youth programs for Mini U and Junior Bisons. The position is responsible for providing clear, consistent development pathways for athletes in sports such as soccer, basketball, hockey, and volleyball.
The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:
- Undergraduate degree in related field such as Physical Education, Education, Kinesiology is required.
- Minimum two years' experience leading and administering competitive sports programs required
- Proven experience designing, planning, supporting, and evaluating children and youth sport programs is required.
- Experience providing leadership to the operations of summer camp programming is required.
- Proven experience in leading and mentoring large groups (50+) of student staff and volunteers is required.
- Strong understanding of high-performance sport environments and the Long-Term Athlete Development model is required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends required.
- Experience with leading the operations of Basketball or Volleyball club teams is an asset.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills required.
- Must have experience handling conflict with adults, youth and children.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, telephone and problem-solving skills required.
- Strong public speaking skills are required.
- Must thrive in a fast paced, busy environment with multiple, shifting priorities and interruptions.
- Must work well independently as well as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using advanced features associated with Microsoft Word and Excel required.
- Cultural sensitivity; open-mindedness; flexibility required.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate logistics such as scheduling, facility bookings, registration processes, and equipment/ space management is required.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with athletes, families, coaches, and sport partners to ensure a supportive and inclusive program environment is required.
- Ability to handle and manage stress quickly and positively is required
- Must be willing to submit a criminal record check, child abuse registry check and valid Emergency First Aid and CPR level C
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
