Host
Be the first smile, and the lasting impression, at our exceptional F&B destinations. From Notch8 inside the iconic Fairmont Hotel Vancouver to the intimate speakeasy HIBIKI and other unique venues, you’ll set the tone for an unforgettable guest experience from the moment they arrive.

What You'll Be Doing
- Greeting guests warmly and professionally, delivering engaging service from start to finish
- Assisting guests with menu selections in an informative and personable manner
- Supporting colleagues during service for a smooth and consistent guest experience, including running food, refreshing beverages, and resetting tables
- Demonstrating in-depth knowledge of beverages, menu items, preparation methods, and current promotions
- Handling guest concerns gracefully, offering solutions, and proactively improving service
- Being attentive to dietary restrictions and allergies, ensuring effective communication among the team
- Staying current with loyalty program offerings and promotions
- Following all outlet policies, procedures, and service standards
- Adhering to safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverages
- Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications
What We Are Looking For
- Service-focused personality with experience in high-volume restaurants (preferred)
- Experience in luxury hotels or service-based industries (ideal but not required)
- Genuine passion for food and beverage
- Calm, courteous, and professional under pressure
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Professional working proficiency in English
- Proven ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Team player who can also work independently when needed
- Positive “Can do” attitude with a sense of urgency
- Highly responsible, reliable, and professional in appearance and conduct
- Knowledge of wine, spirits, beer, cocktails, and specialty coffee (an asset)
- Valid Serving It Right Certification
- Flexibility to work a fluctuating schedule, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and rotating shifts
Physical Aspects of the Position
- Constant standing and walking throughout the shift
- Frequent ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps
- Occasional lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.
- Occasional kneeling, pushing, and pulling
Additional Information
Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
