Position Summary

The Plant Manager is accountable for safe, compliant, and efficient end‑to‑end manufacturing operations at the Ontario facility. This role leads daily production, continuous improvement, cost control, quality assurance, maintenance, materials planning, and workforce development to meet customer, financial, and compliance objectives. The Plant Manager sets the operational strategy, builds high‑performing teams, and ensures alignment with the Director of Operations and corporate goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Own daily production performance (output, OEE, schedule adherence, first‑pass yield) and deliver against monthly/quarterly targets.
  • Safety, Compliance & Quality: Champion a safety-first culture in compliance with Ontario’s OHSA and internal EHS policies; lead hazard assessments, corrective actions, and incident investigations.
  • People Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop Operations Supervisors; set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Financial & KPI Ownership: Manage plant P&L elements (labor, materials, scrap, maintenance, utilities); deliver against budget and cost‑per‑unit targets.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead Lean/CI (5S, value stream mapping, SMED, Kaizen, visual management, standard work).
  • Customer & Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, and Commercial teams to meet demand, launch new products, and resolve issues.
  • Risk Management: Maintain business continuity plans (critical spares, contingency staffing, supplier risk).

Qualifications

Required:

  • 8–12+ years in manufacturing operations with 4–6+ years in a plant/operations leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success leading supervisors and large hourly teams in a multi‑shift environment.
  • Strong command of Lean/CI, maintenance reliability practices, and quality systems.
  • Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost control, and KPI management.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MES and production analytics; strong Excel/reporting skills.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and conflict resolution abilities.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Technology, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Experience in unionized environments and labor-management collaboration.
  • Industry-specific certifications (e.g., Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, CMRP/CRL, CQE).
  • Experience with ISO 9001/14001, IATF 16949, or other relevant standards.
  • Bilingual English/French is an asset for broader Canadian collaboration.

The expected salary range for this position is $104,500 – $160,200 CAD per year.
Actual compensation will be based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
