About the Role
In your role as an Electrical Designer – Roadway Lighting Design you will contribute to the successful design, production, coordination and management of Lighting projects. You will develop lighting systems designs in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D such as layout, single line diagrams, wiring schematics, photometric layouts, grounding details, prepare and review wire sizing, voltage drop and conduit capacity calculations. You will also be responsible for coordinating utilities for electrical infrastructure and transportation-related design and construction projects along with preparing technical reports, tender items, and providing field support such as commissioning and site inspections.
You will ensure that Engineering deliverables (e.g., drawings, specifications, analysis, budget estimates) comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures and sound engineering practices, review drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and project documentation in accordance with QA/QC programs and ensure that project deliverables are met in a timely manner to a high quality including engineering drawings and preparing final reports.
Job Description
- Design and implementation of electrical systems for Infrastructure projects, including roadway lighting.
- Develop and maintain design documentation, specifications, and reports in accordance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with civil engineers, and other multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into larger projects.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and design teams.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, local codes, and industry best practices.
- Participate in client and project meetings, providing valuable input and insights.
- Contribute to the growth of the Electrical department through the review and development of standards and templates.
What do we need from you
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or College diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology
- 3-5+ years of progressive experience in roadway lighting Electrical design
- Minimum 3 years of direct experience in roadway ligting design.
- Experience in Autocad and Civil 3D
- Strong working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and applicable transportation
- Experience with O.Reg 22/04 certification and liaising with utility authorities
- Experience with pole loading software i.e. SPIDAcalc or equivalent is an asset
- Experience in lighting calculation softwares ( AGI32 , Autolux )
