Are you an avid Cross-Country Skier who loves all things Nordic? Do you enjoy biking and hiking? We are looking to recruit a full-time permanent Recreation Trails & Nordic Supervisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the Nordic team, including recruitment & training. This role works in collaboration with other slope-specific departments to provide a smooth operation, maintain trails, and ensure guest satisfaction. As this role is a new position within the department, there is lots of room for growth and development of the position. Compensation Information: $55,000 to $60,000 per annum
Physical Requirement: Heavy; work activities involve handling loads up to 35kg; in both indoor and outdoor setting.
This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.

Skills you bring with you:
- Self-motivated and able to work productively with limited supervision.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid BC driver’s license.
- Good computer literacy (MS Office, MS Excel, Outlook).
- Proficient in the use of snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles.
- Comfortable public speaker with a proven ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Physically fit and able to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Confident Nordic skier, snowshoe user, mountain biker and hiker; able to use all SPR cross country and recreational terrain.
- Maintain accurate files and documentation as related to Nordic and Recreational operations and events.
- Ability to manage and schedule Nordic Attendant team and to work with Utility Crew when needed.
- Well connected with Nordic skiing, clubs, coaches and ski areas in BC.
- Certified Level 2 CANSI or equivalent preferred but not mandatory.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Promote and drive business, plan for growth, and ensure all Recreational Trails and Nordic Operations run smoothly and effectively. Recreational trails include, but are not limited to winter snowshoeing, fat biking and summer biking/hiking.
- Liaise and work with other mountain operations department managers and directors, including Events, Guest Services, Sports School and Golf Maintenance personnel, Utilities/Fat Bike Trail Crews, and Grooming.
- Ensure areas of risk are managed properly and a good relationship with patrol and dispatch are also maintained.
- Liaise with the SPRTA to coordinate management of multi-use trails, year round.
- Continue relationship building with the SP Nordic club, SPRTA, Kamloops Outdoors Club, Kamloops Snowmobile Association, Mountain Man Adventure Tours and Discover Sun Peaks Adventures.
- Oversee the set-up of Recreational, Nordic and multi-use trails, locate and erect all seasonal signs for opening day, and clean up at season end.
- Oversee areas around the East Village Centre, Orient base and Morrisey base, the Umbrella café, P5, the toboggan area and Morrisey top terminal.
- Work with others to enhance McGillivray Lake cabin as a year-round destination.
- Upkeep, inventory, order replacement/new signs and maintenance of all Nordic and Recreational trail supplies.
- Coordinate daily grooming requests with the Grooming and Utilities Crew Manager, their assistant, and groomers, utilizing regular trail checks as a base of information.
- Continue to evaluate and promote updates and expansion of the Nordic and Recreational trail network through working with operations managers, directors, and with third party input.
- Manage all aspects of recruiting, training, organizing and coordinating the Nordic Attendant Team schedule.
- Deliver training and familiarization of Nordic products and rentals to East Village Centre Supervisor.
- Promote Recreational Trail use and Nordic Skiing at Sun Peaks through Tourism Sun Peaks, and personal relationships with local users and groups to attract skiers, trail users, and Nordic events to Sun Peaks.
- Direct, coordinate, plan, and execute special Nordic events through support of a third-party contract, Sun Peaks events staff, and the volunteer members of the Sun Peaks Nordic Club (i.e. Nordic Festival and Sun Peaks Loppets).
- Develop and submit the operating budget for Recreational Trails, Nordic Operations, and this new department.
- Attract new event sponsors and maintain good relationships with existing event sponsors.
- Hold regular meetings with Nordic Attendants to ensure up-to-date knowledge of events, operational changes, resort information and safety concerns.
- Provide insight on ways to improve product, service, and margins.
- Meet and communicate with Grooming Supervisor, Slopes Manager and Senior Director of Mountain Operations on a regular basis on all aspects of the program.
- Communicate event requirements and notifications internally.
- Conduct ticket checking at nordic access points as required.
- Maintain and use trail telemetry to track trail utilization and mark trends in use.
