Job Description And Responsibilities The Quality Assurance (QA) Lab Leader is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the quality control laboratory. The role ensures that all qualification testing, equipment maintenance and calibration, and product results aligns with internal standards, customer need and regulatory requirements. This role requires a blend of technical laboratory expertise, knowledge of industrial cutting machinery, strong leadership skills, and awareness of quality control procedures.

  • Review all shift qualifying tests for the mills that are operating and ensure their completion
  • Review all outstanding Heat, A&T, Mill qualification, Jointer, Informational tests and ensure their completion
  • Review test failures if any with Lab supervisor and plan the bracketing and retesting as per the applicable standards and specifications
  • Account for all the samples received in the lab from mill
  • Verify the validity of tests that are performed by Physical testers and take needed corrective ac­tions in consultation with the Lab Supervisor
  • Repair and calibrate MTE as per the applicable standards and stock the required MTE for all mills
  • Troubleshoot Lab Equipment and liaison with maintenance department for quick turnaround
  • Maintain lab consumables to ensure timely execution of lab operations
  • Focus on 6S activities and continually improve the lab takt time
  • Maintain all calibration records, certificates for all MTE, Lab equipment and Mill equipment, both in manual and Gagetrack
  • Manually track all informational testing as outlines in Product Testing Records
  • Verify all ERW Flat and Bend tests on daily basis and take required actions
  • Conduct and maintain sample Inventory log and communicate on missing samples to the mill at end of shift. Issue end of shift report
  • Assign priorities to lab testers when required or as advised by Lab Supervisor
  • Any other work as tasked by Lab Supervisor

Requirements

  • Diploma in Metallurgical Technology or equivalent
  • One year related experience
