About the role
Some of what you will do:
The Organizational Development Manager plays a key role in shaping the programs, tools, and experiences that build a high‑performance, people‑first culture at Staples. This role is responsible for designing, delivering, and continuously improving OD programs that strengthen our performance, enhance associate experience, and support organizational growth.
The OD Manager brings together communication, critical thinking, facilitation, data analysis, and change management to support leaders and teams through moments of change, development, and transformation. They create clear and engaging communications, build practical tools and resources, and collaborate with HRBPs and other stakeholders to ensure our programs land effectively and reflect modern best practices.
At its core, this role helps leaders and associates do their best work — by improving clarity, strengthening culture, and enabling consistent, high‑impact talent and organizational practices.
Specifically, You Will:
Build and Run OD Programs:
- Lead all foundational OD programs such as our high-performance framework, new hire orientation, mentoring, the annual engagement survey and continuous listening programs, career pathing, and employer award applications. Look for ways to continually build on and enhance these programs to ensure effectiveness.
- Track project plans, manage timelines, and keep partners aligned so milestones are met.
- Design and facilitate OD sessions and experiences that support Staples’ culture and performance.
Create Clear, Impactful Communications:
- Develop communication plans and write engaging content tailored to different audiences across Staples.
- Build executive‑level presentations, training materials, and program resources that support OD and change initiatives.
Drive Change & Partner Across the Business:
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to plan and execute change management strategies for major projects.
Use Data to Guide Decisions:
- Diagnose organizational issues and recommend solutions that align structure, culture, and business goals.
- Measure the effectiveness of all OD programs and recommend improvements.
- Contribute to the HR dashboard through reporting and insights related to employer brand, organizational health, and talent metrics.
Elevate Culture & Employee Experience:
- Identify and implement opportunities to strengthen the employee lifecycle, improve internal mobility and retention, and enhance associate experience.
- Lead shaping our employer brand through storytelling, social media initiatives, and creative ways to highlight life at Staples.
- Lead and design Employer Brand solutions to create excitement, retention and support organizational strategies.
Design Tools and Resources That Help Leaders Succeed:
- Research, source, and develop tools that support leaders in building a high‑performance culture.
Some of what you need:
- Post-Secondary education in Organizational Development, Business Administration, Human Resources, Education, Psychology, related discipline, or equivalent experience required.
- 7-10 years of progressive combined experience in Organizational Development, Talent Management, Leadership Development, or a related field.
- Knowledge of change management theories, methodologies, and tools.
- Strong business acumen and collaborative style to build relationships and quickly gain credibility with key stakeholders across functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to apply critical and strategic thinking to ensure programs are effective and achieving intended goals.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including group facilitation and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate complex information in a compelling and approachable manner using a variety of mediums.
- Highly organized, strong attention to detail and applies a structured approach to program management.
- Ability to influence others and gain buy-in on programs and initiatives.
- Project management, multi tasking, prioritizing a variety of priorities.
Physical demands/working conditions:
Office environment – Hybrid, with 4 days onsite in Richmond Hill, subject to the hybrid policy.
