We are looking for a Financial Analyst with a curious, commercial and analytical mindset who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Acting as a Finance Business Partner, the Analyst will join a team that provides financial analysis, budget, and KPI reporting to Northland’s business units. In this role, you will be exposed to all of Northland’s primary business units and work collaboratively with other team members to support those business units.

This position will be based in our Vancouver Support Centre. You will report to the Manager, FP&A and will be part of the broader Data & Analytics team.
Who you are:
- 1-5 years of work experience in a Financial Planning and Analysis role with an understanding of data modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Detail-Oriented Analyst: Demonstrates strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail. Proficient in pulling and analyzing complex data to generate strategic insights.
- Proficient with Analytical Tools: Exhibits advanced skills in Excel and financial modeling. Eager to learn and master new software. Experience with Power BI and corporate performance management software like Planful is an asset.
- Effective Communicator: Possesses excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex ideas simply and effectively to financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Relationship Builder: Shows a willingness and ability to establish effective working relationships across departments and business units. Capable of working well with team members and stakeholders at all levels.
- Curious Problem Solver: Has a curious nature, understanding the how and why of business processes. Takes immediate action to identify the root cause of issues and proposed solutions when something seems off.
- Proactive Self-Starter: Brings new ideas, acts independently, and demonstrates the ability to help coordinate projects when required.
What you will do:
- Provide decision support to stakeholders by building and maintaining financial models for scenario and sensitivity analysis, presenting the potential impact of business decisions.
- Utilize BI tools and develop dashboards to drive business analytics and insights, that stimulates growth and improves financial performance.
- Use data from relevant sources to develop financial reporting, analysis, and management tools that help stakeholders make informed decisions, optimize resources, and maximize profitability.
- Implement best practices and advanced analytical tools to streamline financial analysis and reporting.
- Prepare annual operating budgets and forecasts, continuously reviewing and enhancing processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Monitor financial results compared to prior year, budget, and forecast, conducting in-depth analysis to identify risks and opportunities.
- Develop a thorough understanding of Northland's operations, IT, and finance processes to become an effective Finance Business Partner.
