As a Mechanic, you’ll repair and overhaul gas turbine engines.

This is a part-time temporary position based out of 19 Wing Comox.

What You’ll Do:

  • Build up and disassemble T-56 QECUs, as well as, working on associated components such as the turbine in accordance with all customer, regulatory, and company requirements using hand or power tools; as a part of the 2nd line maintenance activity.
  • Dismantling, assembling and repairing 54H60 propellers, pump and valve housings, and related components using hand or power tools.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs products according to specifications and procedures.
  • Interprets technical specifications and use precision measuring tools to ensure parts conform to manuals and blueprints.
  • Checks for serviceability, replace defective parts, and maintain detailed repair records.
  • Ensures airworthy equipment is available and participates in process improvement. Cross-train in other skills, support production requirements, provide training to other technicians, and prioritize safety. Additional duties may be assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Previous experience as an aircraft mechanic in an aerospace environment is required.
  • T56 turboprop engine experience is a must.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted for approximately 25% of the workday and standing for prolonged periods.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Specialized training in engineering or aircraft maintenance (such as AME, CAMC, A & P, AMT) is desired.
  • Experience with propellers is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian Forces Technical Orders (CFTO's) and original equipment manufacturer's manuals.
  • Familiarity with production management computer systems and other internal control systems is preferred.
  • Extensive product knowledge within the specific business segment is required, along with proficiency in using precision measuring equipment.
  • The candidate should possess a high degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy, and precision.
  • The candidate should be willing and available to work shifts, extended hours, and travel as required.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical information such as schematics, graphs, blueprints, and other relevant documents.
