About Us STEM Innovation Academy is a dynamic public charter school in Calgary, founded in September 2021. Our junior high campus serves over 450 students in grades 7-9, while our high school campus, launched in September 2022 in the University Innovation Quarter, has rapidly grown to host over 900 students in the fall of 2025.

Our mission is to inspire the next generation of knowledgeable creators, innovators, and responsible leaders. Join us and be part of shaping the future of STEM education! We are seeking a dedicated robotics teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical skills in programming and engineering, along with strong classroom management abilities and a passion for hands-on, project-based learning. This position requires someone who can guide students through the engineering design process, facilitate collaborative problem-solving tasks . We welcome applicants with varying levels of robotics experience, as we value enthusiasm for STEM education and a willingness to grow professionally within our supportive learning community

Position Information High School STEM Mechatronics /Robotics Teacher Education And Experience

  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent recognized by Alberta Education

Demonstrated Skills And Competencies

  • Collaboratively work with Options team members and team lead to support Grade 10 -12 student learning in our STEM electives program.
  • Ability to learn and develop as a professional – willingness to learn .
  • High level of organization and efficient project management; flexibility and adaptability in managing multiple class projects .
  • Student centered approach and a willingness to personalize learning to the needs of the student . Provide formative and summative assessment to students on identified learning outcomes throughout the term .
  • Foster positive relationships with students to create an atmosphere of trust and encouragement in the classroom.
  • Commit to ongoing curriculum enhancements and development.

Technical Skills:

  • Basic programming knowledge ( VEXcode , C++, or Python)
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering principles (gears, motors, sensors)
  • Electronics fundamentals (circuits, wiring, troubleshooting)
  • 3D design and CAD software familiarity
  • Problem-solving and debugging abilities
  • Engineering & Design Thinking:
  • Project management skills
  • Understanding of the engineering design process
  • Ability to guide students through iterative design
  • Knowledge of prototyping and testing methods

We are a new grade 7-12 public charter school that offers programming that is unique in Alberta. The STEM Innovation Academy provides a well-rounded education with an emphasis on STEM topics - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. We have a global focus and the program prepares students to be innovators and problem solvers.

Not only do we infuse the existing science curriculum with leading edge content, we are creating new courses that allow students to explore topics like artificial intelligence, medical technology, cryptocurrency, digital media and design, and energy and environmental technology.
