This lovely family in Island Park, Ottawa, with two children ages 6 months and 7 years old, is looking for a full-time nanny to start as soon as possible. They’re offering up to $35 per hour, plus potential health and dental benefits for the right candidate.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9 AM - 6 PM. Flexibility with end time required on occasion with advance notice.
Primary responsibilities mainly include, but are not limited to, the following:
1.) General childcare for the two children. Their 7-year-old is in school full time, so during the day, the primary focus will be caring for the 6-month-old, including naps, feeds, preparing healthy meals, and engaging in learning-through-play activities. This also includes planning age-appropriate activities for both children, such as outdoor play and attending playgroups.
2.) Light housekeeping, including tidying and cleaning, especially in busy areas like the kitchen and entrances, such as sweeping and vacuuming, handling laundry, preparing meals for the family, and going to the grocery store on occasion with Mom. No heavy cleaning or housekeeping is required, as the family already has someone who comes occasionally to clean.
They are a mixed-culture family who value exposing their children to different cultures and the diversity that Canada has to offer through reading, discussions, and food. Their 7-year-old is a happy, energetic boy who loves being outdoors, while their 6-month-old is a cheerful child who is still learning and growing. Dad has a busy schedule with long hours, and Mom also works while spending much of her time caring for the children and managing the home, so they are looking for someone who can provide additional support.
They’re particularly looking for someone with experience caring for both infants and school-aged children. The ideal candidate is someone who can confidently handle energetic children who enjoy being outdoors, while also being able to encourage quiet time when needed. They should be willing to engage the children in learning activities while also supporting independent play, and be open to a gentle parenting approach.
Driving is preferred or nice to have, but not required. The family lives in a walkable neighbourhood.
