ABOUT THE ROLE

Rainbow Greenhouses is hiring two highly dependable and mobile individuals for the Quick Recovery Team (QRT) — a critical support function within our retail garden centre program across British Columbia.

The QRT exists to ensure zero gaps in service. When a merchandiser calls in sick, resigns unexpectedly, or is otherwise unavailable, a QRT member deploys to that store — often on short notice — and steps in as a fully capable merchandiser to keep operations running at the highest standard. You are the safety net that keeps the program strong.

This is a fully mobile, always-deployed role. There is no home store. QRT members travel across BC continuously — from Vancouver Island to the Interior — moving from location to location wherever coverage is needed. You must be comfortable on the road, quick to adapt, and ready to represent Rainbow with professionalism and energy every time you walk through a garden centre door.

As a QRT Merchandiser, you are the face of Rainbow Greenhouses at every store you enter. Successful QRT members work hard, understand that details matter, follow directions completely, and are entirely self-motivated. This job is physical, fast-paced, and demanding — with the right attitude, it is also rewarding.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Rapid Deployment & Store Coverage

• Deploy to any retail garden centre in BC on short notice when a merchandiser is absent due to illness, resignation, or scheduling gaps

• Step into the role of fully functioning merchandiser immediately, with minimal orientation. Cover absences for as long as needed — from single shifts to extended deployment periods

• Travel between multiple locations throughout the season as directed by your Supervisor.

Merchandising & Live Goods

• Merchandise and display outdoor live plants according to company guidelines.

• Rotate, cull, and organize product to ensure a fresh and appealing presentation.

• Move and position rolling racks and heavy product throughout the shift.

• Water live plants and monitor product health at each location.

• Build, restock, and tidy outdoor displays as new shipments arrive.

• Unload and organize large volumes of plants during peak weeks.

• Ensure all outdoor garden centre areas are clean, organized, and customer-ready.

• Maintain pricing accuracy and support inventory management.

Operations & Communication

• Serve as the face of Rainbow Greenhouses — uphold presentation standards and product integrity at every store.

• Follow all safety practices at every location without exception.

• Troubleshoot and resolve store-level issues quickly and professionally.

• Communicate effectively with your direct report and provide regular updates, photos, and task reports.

• Build positive working relationships with garden centre staff at each location.

WHAT YOU BRING

Mobility & Availability

• Willingness and ability to travel to any retail garden centre throughout BC — from Vancouver Island to the Interior — this is a fully mobile role with no fixed home store.

• Full, open availability throughout the seasonal period — including early mornings, Saturdays, and extended shifts during peak weeks.

• Comfort with a continuously changing schedule and the ability to adapt rapidly when priorities shift.

• Valid, clean Class 5 (or equivalent) driver's licence — required for this role.

• Company vehicle provided if you do not have personal transportation; personal vehicle use is welcome with mileage reimbursed per company policy.

Reliability & Work Ethic

• Punctual, committed to every shift, and able to respond when called in on short notice.

• Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong team focus.

Physical & Environmental Readiness

• Able and willing to work outdoors in all weather — snow, rain, heat, and wind — weather does not stop operations.

• Physical capability to lift, push, pull, carry, and move products of varying weights.

• Stamina to perform demanding hands-on work across multiple locations during peak season.

• CSA-approved steel-toe footwear is mandatory and must be worn at all times on site.

Skills & Experience

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high presentation standards.

• Positive, professional communication skills — you represent Rainbow at every store you visit.

• Experience in merchandising, retail, garden centre operations, or live goods is a strong asset.

• Ability to follow directions completely and self-motivate between supervised periods.

• Ability to work quickly and safely during high-volume days.

• Access to an active cell phone for communication, photos, and reporting.
