About the role
As the global leader in high-speed connectivity, Ciena is committed to a people-first approach. Our teams enjoy a culture focused on prioritizing a flexible work environment that empowers individual growth, well-being, and belonging. We’re a technology company that leads with our humanity—driving our business priorities alongside meaningful social, community, and societal impact.
How You Will Contribute:
The Analog ASIC Integration Team has the mandate to develop algorithms and test methodologies to optimize the performance of high-speed circuitry at the front-end of Ciena’s Wavelogic ASIC’s.
State-of-the-art high-speed circuits for optical communications used in Ciena Wavelogic ASIC’s require complex algorithms and testing schemes in order to be provisioned for peak performance. These circuits have become ‘analog processors’ containing a great degree of tunability and digital assist functions.
Reporting to the ASIC Integration Team, as an Analog Engineer, you will assist in the design and specification of high-performance fixturing, establish appropriate provisioning, control and screening algorithms, and measure performance using state-of-the art lab equipment and on-board ASIC test instruments. Post-processing of results using signal processing techniques will be required to determine circuit characteristics and performance as well as establishing root cause of impairments.
You will be a member of a team that works closely with high-speed circuit design, e/o, PCB, firmware, system and manufacturing teams to find solutions to achieve the best optical line performance for Ciena’s end customers. The optimal provisioning and control solutions are transferred as methodologies for ASIC and system level test and to the firmware that controls the system in the field.
The Must Haves:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Proven experience in high-speed analog electronics, control loop theory and signal processing.
- Knowledge of analysis and scripting tools such as Matlab.
- Experience with lab equipment such as VNAs, Sample Scopes, Signal generators and Spectrum Analyzers
- Experience coding in C.
- Understanding of signal-integrity concerns and high-speed fixturing.
Assets:
- RF Wafer-probing.
- Programming for ARM processors
Pay Range:
The annual salary range for this position is $105,500 - $168,500 CAD.
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.
