About The Role Under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering / Maintenance Supervisor, the Junior Manufacturing Technologist will provide the manufacturing and maintenance department with daily support. This individual will be working alongside various departments, including QA, production and maintenance to ensure operational tasks / projects are completed effectively, accurately and in a timely manner. The individual in this role will be assisting with administering the CMMS and working closely with maintenance to ensure supplies of parts / tooling are well organized, sourced and stocked accordingly. They will assist with H&S inspections and aid in providing solutions / support in a timely manner, per company policies and the OH&S Act. This role will also assist in maintaining and developing SOPs, H&S forms, safety bulletins, etc. as it pertains to equipment and internal processes. Demonstrating technical aptitude, hands-on work abilities, and troubleshooting are crucial in this role. The Junior Manufacturing Technologist must possess effective time management, multi-tasking, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the CMMS system to improve and monitor critical maintenance parts, production tooling and equipment consumables.
  • Conduct routine and scheduled H&S inspections.
  • Assist with the review and implementation of H&S improvements / concerns in accordance with legislative timelines.
  • Research and source components / supplies from multiple vendors, as it applies to maintenance, equipment, dies, fixtures, H&S, and production support.
  • Assist QA to ensure calibrated testing equipment is inspected and maintained per ISO.
  • Complete PMs on specialized production equipment and tools to reduce downtime.
  • Effectively conduct technical communication with maintenance personnel, supervisors, production, contractors, and members of other organization departments.
  • Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns as required.
  • Assist with the review, improvement, and implementation of equipment documents such as SOPs, hazard analysis, pre-use inspections, etc.
  • Support NPR/ECO processes; ensuring manufacturing capabilities are adhered to and maintained
  • Utilize AutoCAD, SolidEdge and Microsoft Office software to complete daily tasks, maintain the Plant Layout, design custom parts and projects.
  • Assist in the coordination and execution of production asset acquisitions, relocations, modifications, etc.
  • Provide facility wide support to various departments, including supervisory staff across both day shift and afternoon shift.
  • Maintain confidentiality where necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications/ Skills And Attributes

  • Post-Secondary Education, preferably in Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering Technology
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a Manufacturing Environment
  • Proficient in CAD knowledge such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks and SolidEdge
  • JHSC Certified or willing to obtain
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in project coordination, considered an asset

Location: 159 Roy Blvd, Brantford, ON, N3R 7K1 (On-site, 5 days a week)

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm straight shifts
