Purpose:
We are currently hiring a Lead Mechanical Engineer to support the Mechanical Engineering team with design and engineering work for studies and projects within the mining, metals, and minerals (MMM) sector. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position. The candidate will be based in Oakville, Ontario.
Self-motivated individuals with a desire to solve complex engineering problems, show effective team leadership and communication skills will be ideally suitable for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver mechanical engineering services that meet Worley, its customers and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
- Contribute to studies and projects.
- Preparation of technical specifications, data sheets and vendor drawing and data requirements (VDDR) for mechanical equipment.
- Perform technical bid evaluations leading to a recommendation and ultimate purchase of the equipment.
- Perform complex engineering calculations with regards to piping, equipment and systems.
- Liaise where needed with the supplier in the purchase of equipment.
- Familiar with applicable codes and standards, perform calculations.
- Review shop drawings and attend inspection as required.
- Prepare project scope of work, planning and support RFQ’s (Requests for Quotation).
- Identify and report changes to study / project scope.
- Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in mechanical engineering.
- Stamp project deliverables.

- Senior level experience in working in the mining industry and with mining equipment (above and below ground).
- Ability to prioritize work to meet tight deadlines.
- Working with other disciplines, understanding engineering sequence, workflow and working with the customer on design reviews.
- Working knowledge in all the relevant standards.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
- Candidate shall be present in the Worley Oakville office 4 days a week.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with demonstrated expertise in mechanical engineering and a strong track record of success in similar roles.
- Registered with PEO as a Professional Engineer.
