POSITION SUMMARY:
The Strategic Communications Specialist leads the development and execution of a comprehensive, culturally responsive communications and promotion strategy for the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy (OSP) program. The role increases awareness, improves equitable access, and strengthens engagement with key audiences, including primary care providers and equity-deserving communities. The Specialist produces targeted campaigns, digital content, and community-focused initiatives, ensuring alignment with Ontario Health requirements and best practices in healthcare communications with measurable results.
DUTIES:
- Lead the development and execution of a coordinated OSP communications and promotion strategy aligned with program priorities and Ontario Health goals.
- Identify and engage key audiences—including primary care providers, equity‑deserving communities, and the public—through targeted, audience‑specific messaging.
- Ensure clear, consistent, and aligned communications across digital platforms, print materials, and community outreach initiatives.
- Translate complex program information into accessible, actionable content that supports equitable access and informed referral pathways.
- Design and deliver multi‑channel campaigns to elevate OSP visibility, including social media, media relations, digital advertising, print collateral, and localized community outreach.
- Produce client‑facing materials, clinician toolkits, videos, and promotional tools (brochures, flyers, referral aids, digital assets) that simplify program access and improve referral consistency.
- Deliver targeted communications to primary care providers to strengthen understanding of referral options through AccessMHA and OCEAN eReferral systems.
- Build and maintain partnerships with healthcare and community organizations to support coordinated promotion, streamlined referrals, and access for priority populations.
- Develop culturally responsive, inclusive, and accessible communications, adapting content for multiple languages and audiences, including Indigenous, French‑speaking, LGBTQ+, and Black communities.
- Monitor campaign performance using KPIs (reach, engagement, referral trends) and deliver clear reports and a final evaluation with outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate’s or bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Public health or related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years in marketing, communications, or public relations.
- Experience in healthcare, public sector, or non-profit environments.
- Experience engaging diverse and equity-deserving communities.
- APR Accredited in Public Relations required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proven record of planning and executing multi-channel campaigns.
- Strong strategic communications skills to develop and deliver coordinated messaging aligned with program priorities and Ontario Health expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze target audiences and tailor messaging to effectively engage primary care providers, equity‑deserving populations, and the general public.
- Proven experience planning, implementing, and managing multi‑channel communications campaigns—including social media, digital, print, and community outreach—to increase awareness and program visibility.
- Ability to develop high‑quality client‑facing and clinician‑facing materials, such as brochures, videos, and referral tools, that support understanding of services and improve access.
- Strong relationship‑building skills to collaborate with healthcare providers, community partners, and stakeholders to strengthen referral pathways and support program adoption.
- Well‑developed cultural competency and inclusive communications skills, with experience creating materials for Indigenous, French‑speaking, LGBTQ+, and Black communities.
- Ability to track, evaluate, and report on communications and campaign performance, translating insights into actionable recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Proficiency with digital marketing tools, social media platforms, analytics, and content management systems to implement and monitor campaigns effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences; bilingualism (English/French) is preferred.
- English level A- is mandatory in oral comprehension, expression, reading and writing. Bilingual (English/French) is preferred.
Salary Range:
$47.58 to $55.16 per hour
