What You'll Be Doing Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date health, environment, and safety compliance records and documentation.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for EHS inquiries within your region.
  • Write, revise, proofread, and maintain company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Enter incident and accident data, track follow-ups, and support investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Lead or support incident investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Maintain, update, and audit safety training records to ensure compliance.
  • Assist with the preparation of safety documentation and onboarding materials for new team members.
  • Manage documentation related to Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), including updates and manifests.
  • Support and promote safety initiatives that encourage a proactive and engaged safety culture.
  • Coordinate and participate in Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings and ensure committee effectiveness.
  • Assist with branch safety audits, identify deficiencies, and track corrective actions.
  • Support Workers’ Compensation claims management and assist in coordinating return-to-work programs.
  • Assist with the COR audit process within the region.
  • Stay current on evolving health, safety, and environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct inspections of fall protection equipment.

Qualifications And Requirements What You'll Bring to the Team

  • Minimum 3 years of health and safety experience, ideally within construction, industrial, or related environments.
  • Bilingualism (French / English) is an asset.
  • Post-secondary diploma in Environment, Health & Safety Management or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license required, with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than 3 demerit points). You’ll be required to provide a copy of your updated driver’s abstract upon request.
  • Strong knowledge of construction-related safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Experience supporting or participating in COR programs; COR Internal Auditor certification is considered an asset.
  • Experience with provincial workers’ compensation reporting and claims management.
  • Professional designation such as CRSP or NCSO is an asset.
  • Train-the-Trainer certification is considered an asset (or willingness to obtain).
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety audits.
  • Knowledge of safety considerations related to trenching, pump and power equipment, climate control systems, and/or propane/LPG is an asset
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly between Ottawa branches, with occasional travel to Montreal and Quebec locations (1–2 times per month).
  • Willingness to complete harness inspection training.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive or confidential information.
  • A team-oriented mindset, positive attitude, and strong active listening skills, as well as the ability to work effectively independently.
  • A genuine passion for safety and for building a culture where safety is embedded in everyday operations.
  • Ability to adapt in fast-paced environments, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines while maintaining high standards.
