The purpose of this position is to provide supervision and leadership in operations to staff at the Mark Arendz Provincial Ski Park Nordic Rental Shop during winter and summer operations.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provides excellent customer service to all Nordic site guests, creating a positive environment to ensure guests’ return;
  • Responsible for the daily operations of the Rental Shop, including assigning and monitoring duties assigned to staff;
  • Maintains regular contact with trail supervisors and groomers to understand current trail conditions;
  • Addresses and resolves guest inquiries and complaints;
  • Provides guests with direction on how to use ski, bike, and snowshoe equipment;
  • Provides information to guests on trail system (mapping);
  • Assists clients with the rental of equipment (ie. bikes, cross country skis, snowshoes, tubes), and maintenance or adjustment of equipment;
  • Ensures rental shop supplies are stocked and reordered promptly;
  • Ensures daily balancing of till;
  • Supervises staff ensuring adherence of operational procedures and policies, Occupational Health and Safety policies, and Human Resources policies;
  • Provides training to staff related to ski, bike, snowshoe and tubing equipment, the Nordic trail system and use of the Point of Sale system;
  • Provides input and advice on staff schedules, assigns daily work tasks and monitors that work is completed to satisfaction;
  • Completes and facilitates employee performance reviews;
  • Addresses staff issues or complaints;
  • Maintains equipment inventory and leads all pre and post season maintenance of equipment;
  • Maintains property for cleanliness and ensures signage is posted and accurate;
  • Ensure grass cutting, snow removal and other grounds maintenance is completed; and
  • Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or GED.
  • Ski Binding Certification.
  • Experience in supervising staff.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Experience in handling cash and POS.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Understanding of Park equipment and operations.

Other Qualifications:

  • Certified bike mechanic.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Knowledge of the Nordic trails.
  • Knowledge of the Mark Arendz Provincial Ski Park property.
  • Head/Tyrolia Binding Certification.
