Position Title: Vice President, Philanthropic Partnerships
Reports To: Chief Revenue Officer
I. Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities
The Vice President, Philanthropic Partnerships leads CNIB's high value giving strategy across Canada, including major gifts, planned giving, corporate partnerships, foundation grants, and events. This national leadership role develops customized donor strategies, cultivates major supporters, and aligns fundraising with strategic organizational goals. The VP provides visionary leadership to a high-performing team and fosters long-term philanthropic investment in CNIB's mission and strategic plan.
II. Essential Functions
- Lead a high-performing national team of major gift officers, corporate fundraisers, foundation leads, and events professionals to execute CNIB’s philanthropic strategy.
- Develop and implement customized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for major donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
- Act as a senior representative of CNIB with donors, board members, and sector leaders to inspire investment and partnership.
- Collaborate with internal departments and department leaders to identify funding needs and proactively match them with philanthropic opportunities.
- Drive the development and national rollout of planned giving strategies, marketing, and advisor engagement.
- Lead the planning and execution of donor events nationally, ensuring they align with cultivation and stewardship priorities.
- Ensure strategic collaboration and role clarity with the VP, Integrated Fundraising to support a unified fundraising strategy.
- Oversee and accountable for financial performance, budget forecasting, and long-term growth planning.
- Implement national processes for moves management, prospect clearance, and donor pipeline development.
- Monitor and develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and leverage analytics to guide team success.
III. Qualifications
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Expertise in direct response fundraising, digital acquisition, donor retention, monthly giving, and gaming.
- Advanced knowledge of data segmentation, testing methodologies, and performance analytics.
- Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements in fundraising and charitable gaming.
- Proficiency in CRM platforms (preferably Salesforce) and fundraising technologies.
- Excellent leadership, collaboration, and project management skills.
Experience and Education
- Post-secondary degree in business, nonprofit management, communications, or a related field or experience preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in fundraising, with national scope.
- Proven success in securing six- and seven-figure gifts, including complex and multi-year agreements.
- Experience leading teams across major gifts, corporate partnerships, and donor events.
- Familiarity with planned giving strategies and foundation grant processes.
Work Environment

- Willingness to work flexible hours to meet the needs of department and position requirements.
- Multiple and ongoing demands from key stakeholders.
- Occasional travel may be required to meet with stakeholders, attend conferences, or manage external partnerships.
