About SPRINT Senior Care:

We began caring for seniors and enabling seniors to care for themselves in 1983. We continue to do so today as an accredited, not-for-profit community support service agency in Toronto by offering a wide range of practical and low-cost services to seniors and their caregivers. Our services help seniors stay safe, connected, and live as independently as possible, and prevent premature or inappropriate institutionalization.

Position Type:

Bargaining Unit Position; Full-Time, Contract (Contract Length: 8 Weeks) 35 hours per week

Reports To:

Supervisor, Community Programs

Work Location:

In person

Various SPRINT Senior Care locations

What you will do:

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and delivery of department activities.
  • Assist with social programs, exercise programs, food security programs and special events.
  • Socialize with clients.
  • Helping with setting up, serving and cleaning up for meal and wellness programs.
  • Develop and implement health promotion education sessions and workshops as well as run in-person programming in an engaging fashion
  • Program support including: packing and meal delivery to clients.
  • Assist with administrative tasks and projects.
  • Assist in the development and distribution of marketing materials.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you will bring:

  • Enrolled in or completed a post-secondary Social Service Worker, Healthcare, Activation, Social Work, Recreation, Gerontology, Kinesiology Program, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic knowledge of food handling and food safety
  • Experience working with seniors and persons with dementia is an asset.

This position is made possible through Canada Summer Jobs, an initiative of Employment and Social Development Canada. To be eligible for these positions, participants must:

  • Be between 15-30 years of age, at the start of the funded position.
  • Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferred.
  • Have a valid SIN
  • International students, and those who are here in Canada on a work, youth, or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program.

Pay:

CA$18.60 per hour
