Role Description The Climate Adaptation Lead will report to the Climate Adaptation Solutions Director for Canada. This role focuses on providing technical leadership and contributing to the development and implementation of Arcadis’ climate adaptation and resilience strategies.
The successful candidate will contribute to the execution of Arcadis’ Resilience and Climate Adaptation strategy, working closely with project teams and leadership to deliver innovative solutions aligned with emerging market trends, client needs, and regulatory drivers. They will actively collaborate across sectors and geographies to ensure the successful delivery of projects and the growth of Arcadis’ climate adaptation portfolio.
This position emphasizes client engagement, and team collaboration, requiring strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. The Lead will also play a role in fostering knowledge-sharing within Arcadis.
Role Accountabilities Key responsibilities for this role include:
Client Engagement and Market Understanding: They will develop and maintain a strong understanding of client needs, emerging issues, market trends, and regulatory drivers, and contribute to positioning Arcadis as a trusted advisor in climate adaptation by building relationships with clients and stakeholders. They will support the preparation of high-quality proposals and presentations during the pursuit phase of projects, and actively represent Arcadis at industry events, conferences, and technical forums to share insights and promote the company’s expertise.
Technical Leadership and Delivery: The successful candidate will provide technical oversight and leadership on projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet or exceed client expectations. They will lead and contribute to the development of tailored solutions in climate adaptation, resilience, and environmental planning, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address complex challenges and deliver innovative outcomes. Staying current with advancements in technical methodologies, national and global standards, and industry best practices is an important part of this role.
Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: The Lead will partner with internal teams, including technical specialists and leadership, to execute strategic initiatives and deliver projects, and foster collaboration across Arcadis’ global network, leveraging best practices and lessons learned from other regions.
Support for Growth and Business Development: They will conduct market and competitor assessments to identify opportunities for differentiation and innovation and contribute to the development of solutions that align with Arcadis’ global strategy and address specific client needs. They will assist in the execution of targeted campaigns, thought leadership, and client engagement activities to grow Arcadis’ presence in the climate adaptation market, while working collaboratively with leadership to ensure profitable business growth and long-term success.
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills, with strong reporting and presentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to develop creative and practical solutions.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and build lasting client relationships.
Qualifications And Experience The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Planning, or a related discipline.
- A Master’s Degree is preferred but not required.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in environmental consulting, climate adaptation, or resilience planning.
- Experience delivering medium to large-scale projects and client engagement.
- Strong understanding of, and experience with, industry regulations, national standards, and codes of practice.

The salary range for this position is $95,000-137,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
