About the role

Who We Are: Vasco’s Story

We believe that once product-market fit is reached, growth can be engineered. However, the vast majority of ideas don’t reach their full potential because of execution failure. Our mission is to considerably improve the odds of success of startups and scale-ups. We help them understand, achieve, and maintain high velocity and sustainable growth at every stage of their life.

We’re building the go-to-market operating system for startups and scaleups who don’t just want to survive, but win. If you’re energized by helping world-class teams scale before the rest of the world even sees them coming—you’ll love it here.

About This Role

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer who takes full ownership of both the problem and the solution. This is a hybrid role that blends shaping and designing. You’ll work upstream to clarify complex, ambiguous challenges and downstream to bring elegant, high-impact solutions to life.

You’ll take the lead in framing challenges, uncovering customer insights, and aligning early with product and engineering to define what success looks like. You’ll make your thinking visible through sketches, flows, and short briefs, and you’ll use feedback to sharpen both your solutions and your impact.

We work in six-week Shape Up cycles, giving you the space to go deep, move fast, and ship meaningful work without noise or micromanagement. If you’re a systems thinker, a clear communicator, and a proactive problem solver who thrives in high-trust environments, we’d love to meet you.

You Will Achieve This By

  • Framing problem spaces: Translate ambiguous opportunities into crisp, bounded pitches rooted in business context, strategic opportunity, and customer insight—creating clarity for teams and leadership.
  • Driving discovery: Leading research to identify, validate, and prioritize customer pain points and viable solution discovery.
  • Shaping solutions: Producing write-ups, sketches, and conceptual flows that give engineering clarity without over-constraining creative problem-solving.
  • Designing key experiences: Creating high-quality UI designs for critical flows and components, ensuring clarity, usability, and elegance.
  • Collaborating deeply: Working hand-in-hand with business and engineering partners on feasibility, trade-offs, and guiding delivery from concept to release.
  • Leveraging AI as a force multiplier: Harness AI-powered tools to accelerate ideation, validation, and iteration in both research and design.
  • Conducting research: Synthesize customer feedback, behavioural data, and market research into actionable design decisions.

What You Need on Day 1 to Be Successful

  • Senior+ level expertise: ~5+ years in product design (or equivalent), with a proven track record of delivering impactful solutions in fast-paced environments—ideally in complex or data-intensive B2B software.
  • End-to-end design mastery: Strong in both problem discovery and solution validation, with expertise spanning UX strategy, interaction design, and polished UI.
  • Research capability: Skilled at conducting user research to understand user needs, workflows and context to identify opportunities. You actively benchmark competitors and aim to build better.
  • Technical fluency: Able to understand architecture constraints and collaborate effectively with engineers to ensure feasibility.
  • AI-enabled design: Experience using AI tools to speed up research, ideation, and iteration.
  • High-velocity adaptability: Comfortable balancing high autonomy and accountability while working at a startup pace.

It Would Be Great If

  • You have startup or scale-up experience where product, design, and engineering collaborate closely.
  • You’ve held hybrid roles blending product management thinking with design execution.

What Success Looks Like in the First 90 Days

Within 30 days, you've built strong relationships with your team and internal stakeholders, and have a clear understanding of Vasco’s product, roadmap, and user base.

By day 60, you've shipped your first "Pitch" (or Pitches!) and contributed meaningfully to team rituals and planning.

By day 90, you’re driving initiatives independently, giving input into strategy, and confidently using our decision-making frameworks (like ADRs or PDRs).

A Bit About Our Team Culture

Vasco’s Product team is passionate, kind, and deeply collaborative. Beyond their technical skills, they bring a range of personal passions to the table: some love coffee, padel, crossfit, beers, hacking keyboards, or exploring great food spots. We believe these quirks and personal interests add to the richness of our culture. Bringing your own passions and personality into the mix is a plus—and we’re excited to learn about what lights you up outside of design!

Work Environment - Hybrid

  • At Vasco, we embrace a vibrant hybrid culture that brings out the best of both worlds. With anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, our team gathers in the heart of Downtown Montreal for in-office collaboration, while still enjoying the flexibility of remote work. We believe this balance strengthens bonds, fuels creativity, and empowers us to drive meaningful and impactful teamwork—together.

This position is 3 days in person. Our office is at WeWork Place Ville-Marie.

Why You Should Work at Vasco

  • Talent-Dense Team with Experienced Founders: Our team is packed with incredible talent, including experienced, repeat founders. Even better, they’re great humans who make work enjoyable.
  • Autonomy with Accountability: We focus on inspiration, not micromanagement. Talented people excel with clear context, ambitious goals, and ownership of their results.
  • Innovating in a Blue Ocean Space: We’re creating software that pioneers a planing approach built on unique, core concepts of High Velocity Sales - there’s nothing like it on the market.
  • Top-Tier Compensation (Salary & Stock Options): We offer compensation at the top of the market salaries, benchmarking against similar roles at peer companies + generous stock options.
  • Uncapped Vacation: Our policy is simple: “Take Vacationʽ, no approval process required. We trust your judgment to act in Vasco’s best interest.
  • Comprehensive Health Benefits: We offer a comprehensive package with SunLife Insurance for you and your dependents.

Our Typical Hiring Process

  • Discovery Call with our Recruiter

  • Team Fit Interview with the Hiring Manager

  • A Work Sample Takehome Challenge + A Review and Technical Assessment Interview Stage

  • Final Interview with Vasco’s CEO

  • Decision & Job Offer

    • In parallel, we typically close out the process with an (optional) pleasant lunch with the team!

Note: For this role, we would like to see an online portfolio that demonstrates a mix of product thinking, design craft, and professional maturity through detailed case studies.

We’d Love to Hear From You

If you have the essential requirements and are excited about this role or our industry, we encourage you to apply—even if you don’t check every box. We believe potential and passion matter more than a perfect match on paper, and you may bring unique strengths that make a difference.

We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome talented individuals from all backgrounds and experiences. What matters most to us is your ability to contribute, grow, and make an impact as part of our team.

We’re thrilled to meet people who are as excited about our mission as we are. If this sounds like you, let’s talk!
