Reporting to the VP, Supply Chain, the Director, Distribution Operations will lead the strategic and day-to-day operations of the distribution network to ensure optimal efficiency, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence across all regions. This role is responsible for overseeing end to end warehouse operational processes and continuous improvement initiatives across the distribution centers and branch network including the overall design and performance of the distribution network. This includes how product moves from suppliers through warehouses and ultimately to our customers. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, data-driven leader with a proven track record of designing and scaling logistics operations.
What you will do:
- Provide direct oversight and leadership of the Calgary Distribution Centre, and operational guidance and support to regional hubs through the local operations leadership team.
- Lead and manage all aspects of a cross province, multi-site, distribution center operation focused on safety, customer service, productivity and cost ensuring timely, accurate, and cost-effective order fulfillment and delivery.
- Develop and implement short- and long-term distribution strategies to support business growth, cost optimization, and customer service excellence ensuring best-in-class service and accuracy across all distribution activities.
- Innovate the design, structure, and flow of the distribution network ensuring products move efficiently within the network and to our customers.
- Lead, mentor, and develop regional site leaders and national support teams building a high-performing, safety-focused team.
- Implement and maintain performance metrics, reporting and KPIs to drive improvement, accountability and results.
- Optimize inventory flow through the network and minimize costs through effective space utilization, slotting, and warehouse management systems.
- Partner with IT, procurement, transportation, and other key stakeholders to improve supply chain efficiency.
- Drive strategic initiatives such as automation, WMS upgrades, and process re-engineering.
- Ensure all operations comply with health, safety, legal, and environmental standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive leadership in distribution, logistics, or supply chain operations.
- Proven experience in managing multi-site or regional warehouse operations.
- Experience with Lean Principles, Kaizen, 5S or other process improvement methodologies considered an asset.
- Proficient in WMS/ERP systems such as SAP, Manhattan, Oracle, or similar platforms. Implementation experience considered and asset.
