Support students in their learning journey and make a lasting impact. Sturgeon Public Schools is seeking a Part-Time Temporary Educational Assistant 2 for Landing Trail School.
Landing Trail School serves approximately 400 students from Preschool to Grade 4, including LOGOS programming, which integrates faith-based learning into the Alberta curriculum. This role provides essential support to students and staff in an inclusive and caring school environment.
This position is 0.4 FTE (14 hours per week). What You'll Be Doing
- Support a non-verbal student in an elementary classroom under the direction of the teacher
- Support with routine personal care activities such as toileting, movement, personal hygiene, eating, drinking and feeding
- Observe, assess, and document student behaviours and safety needs
- Monitor, support, and participate in classroom activities
- Teach and assist students with classroom and life skills
- Provide encouragement and assistance with academics
- Build trust and rapport through positive interactions
- Support students with alternate strategies for developmental or situational challenges
- Maintain a therapeutic approach to behaviour management
- Collaborate with teachers on problem-solving and decision-making
- Stay current on professional practices in childcare and education
What You Bring
- Educational Assistant or Early Childhood Diploma/Certificate
- Experience working with students who display behavioural needs
- Training or experience with Autism and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices
- Ability to work collaboratively in a classroom team
- Equivalencies of education, knowledge, and experience may be considered
- Clear Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
